Ode to the South West Coastal Path

By Derek Bird

Walking the coast path
the south west coast path
we have walked many miles
there are many more to go

Walking from Minehead
we are on our way to Poole
the weather's not so cool
making us sweat like a fool

Our shorts are old and baggy
and our bodies old and saggy
Aches and pains are not our friend
cos our joints are f****d

Paracetamol rock
Nerofen pain block
Co codamol are quite uplifting
all together very spiffing

We have walked 500 miles
not 500 more to go
looking to the end now
wow wow wow

We passed the old man of watsidoda
and the old lady of somewhere maybe
walking the coast path
an achievement what a blast.

Haiku

By Martin Woolley

SWCP Haiku #1
A brown and white cow
Wooden gate on the cliff tops
Doorway to the sea

SWCP Haiku #2
Martin in yellow
Dark rain clouds were over a
Blue and turquoise sea

SWCP Haiku #3
Muddy boots warm hats
Fluffy white clouds and white foam
Around small islands

SWCP Haiku #4
Acorns, wooden posts
Lichen encrusted hawthorn
The path at our feet

SWCP Haiku #5
Sky and clouds reflect
In the estuary waters
Vast expanse of sand

SWCP Haiku #6
Four little birdies
With no fear of us humans
A gruesome dead fish
