Martin and Marina's Bit
One of the most wonderful things about the SWCP is the way the landscape, flora and fauna change slowly but surely. Today was a day of colour. To the North of Lands End, the heather was in full bloom and we walked through fields of purple, violet, amber, yellow and green with the sea contributing a luminous green and blue, tinged with white. Wow.
Lands End! We reached Lands End! Let that sink in for a moment! We certainly did. Since starting SWCP last year, Martin, Marina, Derek and Lesley had walked 265 miles. 265 miles! At Lands End we stopped at the First and Last House for refreshments. Martin pulled out a bottle of red wine (non-alcoholic!) and we had a brief celebration, raising a paper cup to our achievement. Brilliant!
Continuing south from Lands End, the landscape continued to evolve, taking on a new character. The cliffs are marked by huge caves and there are beaches, strewn with sea-rounded boulders of various colours. The heather continued to contribute its colours, ever more vibrant. Paradise? Yep, just possibly.
Derek and Lesley's Bit
A monumental day in our walk, as today we round lands end!
A surprise for Lesley & myself is in store,
Thanks to Martin & Marina who pull out a bottle of wine to celebrate this mile stone. alcohol free wine to keep a clear head for the rocky path ahead.
